I have the great pleasure to know Chloe Thompson; an amazing artist from Australia currently visiting Sweden. Today I helped her out photographing some of her art so that she can work on her book and hand out examples of her work to people interested in commissioning her.
The pictures of the ‘tree’, ‘moon & sea’, ‘moon girl’ and ‘maple leaf’ (these aren’t the actual names, I just made up some descriptive terms) are about 40 x 30 cm but the gorgeous ‘orange fantasy girl’ is a larger piece measuring 90 x 65 cm. Her work varies a lot and these pictures really only give a glimpse of her talent. On of my favourite things she makes are these small post cards for every occasion which she’ll actually soon start selling as well!
Taking the pictures actually turned out a lot harder then expected. Luckily these images are only practice runs for before we start compiling the actual material.
Especially hard was to keep all the angles nice and straight. As you can see I succeeded better in some images than others. I also didn’t have a calibration card with me so the white balance and colour temperature might be a bit off. Lastly the studio setup wasn’t optimal, you can clearly see that some of the table borders are a bit too narrow to look like a professional picture. I would have liked to try out some pictures on a reflective surface so that you gain a sense of size by comparing it to the reflection on the table but sadly the roll with plastic was missing from the studio.
So still a lot of things that I can improve on, but let’s be honest…the pictures look flipping AWESOME, mostly because of the incredible work on Chloe’s part! Don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to come into contact with her and get your own unique amazing piece of art!
I am so excited right now! A while back I applied for a scholarship to attend the LEAP program at UCLA this summer and…I GOT IT! I really recommend you have a look at some of the amazing things they do and come over there yourself. I’ll of course bring my camera with me as I hope to take capture some nice shots that can convey the amount of passion and inspiration that the speakers and students will have! Challenge accepted
A while ago I got into contact with one of the most amazing and inspiring people I have ever met, Q. He helped me figure out a lot of tough decisions and gave me the confidence to let go of some of the troubles I had in my heart…which have led to amazing things, and I am sure there is much more to come
He works at a small (though not for much longer) church in Malmö and I have had so much fun with the amazing people there. Recently he asked me if I could help out creating some promotional material, which was something he had been struggling with for a while now.
Even though I did not have my best friend, mr. Tripod, with me tonight I still managed to get some nice shots. Ok, so the statistics weren’t that impressive, only 12 out of 154 pictures I deemed worthy of an edit, but hey we don’t have DSLR’s for nothing!
I really want to get a nice pro lens for my EOS600D so that even in low light situations like these I can avoid evil dr. ISO-1600. But those are dreams for the future, for now, I just want to thank Q and hope he likes the pictures. I will definitely continue to help out.
So a friend of mine wants to become a coach at the LEAP program at UCLA this summer. A requirement in the application process is a short testimonial video. We looked around a bit to see what others had done and came to the conclusion…well they were boring! So we decided to spice things up a bit and produce a video that hopefully got other people just as excited as she is about LEAP.
Update: She got accepted
